Touch is a small Windows freeware utility that will allow you to change file timestamps and attributes for selected files. Simply drag files from Windows Explorer file folders to the Touch window, or use the Explorer Send To menu.

Touch includes facilities to modify the file Creation, Modification and Last Access timestamps as well as optionally setting file attributes including the Read-Only, Archive, System, Index and Hidden bits.

A command-line console application is also included to provide the same facilities for command shell and batch scripts. Use Touch -? to display a help manual page describing all command line flags and options.

Free source code for Touch written by the author, Gregory Braun is also available.

Touch is written in the C Language (not MFC/C++) using the Microsoft Visual Studio C/C++ Development System. Source code includes the project files, source code and resource scripts required to build the Touch Windows Desktop application and the console utility.

Touch source code is provided on an as-is basis. The source code is well documented, but assumes that the user has a good working knowledge of the C Language and the Win32 API. The author can not help you convert this code to MS Visual BASIC.

The Touch source illustrates the code required to build a small 32-bit MS Windows Desktop utility as well as routines to alter file timestamps and attributes, access the System Registry and handle Drag & Drop facilities in a ListBox control.
